Lauren P. Miller Scholarship

Scholarship Sponsored by Wyoming Community Foundation

Value: $600.00
Awards Available: 10
Deadline : Jul 01, 2026

Overview
The Lauren P. Miller Scholarship provides financial aid to individuals enrolled in a Registered Apprenticeship Program registered with the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeships. Applicants from any trade will be considered, but priority will be given to candidates in automotive and construction-related trades (for example: carpentry, plumbing, and electrical).

Note for employers
If your company does not currently sponsor a Registered Apprenticeship Program and you are interested in starting one, contact Jason Demo, Director of the Wyoming Apprenticeship Office, at (307) 401-4185 for guidance on program development.

Eligibility
- Must be a resident of Wyoming.
- Must be enrolling in a Registered Apprenticeship Program with the U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Apprenticeships.

Award amount and quantity
- A minimum of ten scholarships of $600 each will be awarded annually.
- The exact number and dollar amount of awards may change depending on available funds.

Duration and reapplication
- Each scholarship covers one year.
- Recipients may apply again for subsequent years, but it is the applicant’s responsibility to determine whether re-application is permitted; the Foundation will not send individual notifications about re-application opportunities.

Personal standards and application materials
- As required by the fund, strong candidates are expected to be non-smokers and abstain from alcoholic beverages; applicants must be willing to sign a statement affirming this.
- Additional application materials and essay prompts (if any) should be completed as part of the application process.

Probationary period and repayment
- The Wyoming Community Foundation enforces a 3-month probationary period. If an apprentice is removed from their Registered Apprenticeship Program during this three-month period for any reason, they must repay the full scholarship amount to the Wyoming Community Foundation and will be barred from receiving future Lauren P. Miller Scholarships.

Payment and tax information
- Scholarships are issued directly to the individual recipient.
- The Wyoming Community Foundation will not issue 1099 forms to awardees; nevertheless, recipients should report scholarship funds as income as required and be aware they may be subject to taxation.
