Overview The National Hydropower Association (NHA) Past Chairs’ Legacy Scholarship provides a $2,500 award to a student pursuing studies connected to the hydropower sector for the 2026–27 academic year. Applicants should be enrolled as undergraduate or graduate students in fall 2026 and meet the eligibility requirements below. Eligibility To be considered, applicants must satisfy every item in this list: - Be a current college sophomore, junior, or senior who will be a college junior, senior, or graduate-level student in Fall 2026. - Be enrolled full time at an accredited institution: a four-year college, two-year college, or a vocational/technical school. - Hold and continue to maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale. - Be a United States citizen or a legal permanent resident. - Be pursuing an NHA-approved field of study related to the hydropower industry (approved programs are listed below). Approved fields of study Applicants must be studying one of the following disciplines: - Earth Sciences Engineering - Mechanical Engineering - Electrical Engineering - Systems Engineering - Civil Engineering - Environmental Engineering - Biology - Fisheries - Hydrology - Geology - Forestry - Public Relations - Public Policy - Public Administration - Environmental Studies - Environmental Management - Renewable Energy Award One recipient will be chosen to receive a $2,500 scholarship. How recipients are chosen Selections are based on a combination of factors, including: - Academic achievement - Demonstrated leadership and involvement in school and community activities - Relevant work or internship experience - A written statement outlining educational and career goals and objectives - Any notable personal or family circumstances that bear on the applicant’s situation If you meet the above requirements and are pursuing studies related to hydropower for the 2026–27 academic year, you are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
