Overview
This award honors Jean Hunse and offers need-based support to students studying business at Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business. It targets undergraduate juniors, seniors, or fifth-year seniors who either live in Kalamazoo County or graduated from a Kalamazoo County high school. While open to business majors generally, preference is given to students concentrating in accounting. Recipients may be enrolled full time or part time.

Eligibility criteria
- Enrollment: Must be enrolling or currently enrolled as a junior, senior, or fifth-year senior in the Haworth College of Business at Western Michigan University.
- Major: Business major required; accounting majors are preferred.
- Academic standing: Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
- Enrollment status: Eligible whether attending full time or part time.
- Financial need: Demonstration of financial need is required.
- Residence/high school: Applicant must either be a permanent resident of Kalamazoo County or have graduated from a high school located in Kalamazoo County.

Background on Jean Hunse
Jean Hunse earned her CPA designation in 1943. She later founded her own accounting practice in Kalamazoo in 1977 and served as president of the American Association of Women CPAs. This scholarship was created in her memory to provide financial assistance to WMU students pursuing business studies.
