Overview The Mercantile Bank of Michigan Scholarship Fund provides financial awards each year to graduating seniors from the Clare, Mt. Pleasant (including Sacred Heart Academy), and Shepherd areas who have shown exceptional dedication to community service and plan to continue their education or vocational training.
Purpose The scholarship program was established to honor local young people for their volunteerism and civic involvement. Mercantile Bank of Michigan created the fund to encourage and reward high school seniors who have distinguished themselves through service by helping them pursue further education.
Annual Awards Four scholarships are granted each year:
- One scholarship for a student from Clare High School
- One scholarship for a student from Mt. Pleasant High School
- One scholarship for a student from Sacred Heart Academy
- One scholarship for a student from Shepherd High School
Eligibility Requirements Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a graduating senior from Clare, Mt. Pleasant, Sacred Heart Academy, or Shepherd High School
- Have been accepted to and intend to attend an institution of higher learning, which may include a college, university, industrial, technical, or vocational school
- Demonstrate notable community service and involvement
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
