Idaho Governor's Cup Scholarship

Introduction
Founded in 1974 by Governor Cecil Andrus, the Idaho Governor’s Cup operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping Idaho youth pursue postsecondary education at institutions within the state.
Program overview
Subject to available funding, the Idaho Governor’s Cup Scholarship typically awards roughly 25 students each year. Awards are available for both academic and career-technical education: academic recipients receive $5,000 per year (renewable for up to four years for a bachelor’s degree program), and career-technical education (CTE) recipients receive $3,000 per year (renewable for up to three years for approved CTE programs).
General application requirements (applies to both award types)
- Idaho residency
- Intention to enroll full time in an eligible postsecondary program beginning the semester immediately after high school graduation (see specific program requirements below)
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8
- A 500-word personal essay describing your goals and interests
- Contact information for two individuals who will provide letters of recommendation
- Documentation showing commitment to public service (volunteer work, leadership roles, community service) — demonstrated public service is given strong consideration during selection
Academic scholarship eligibility
To be considered for the academic scholarship, applicants must:
- Be an Idaho resident
- Be a graduating senior from an Idaho public/private high school or an Idaho home school
- Plan to enroll full time in a four-year bachelor’s degree program at an Idaho postsecondary institution
- Meet the general application requirements listed above
CTE scholarship eligibility
To be considered for the Career-Technical Education (CTE) scholarship, applicants must:
- Be an Idaho resident
- Be either a graduating senior from an Idaho public/private high school or Idaho home school, or a first-year student already in a CTE program
