History of the Award
History: The Louisiana Workers’ Compensation Corporation (LWCC) established this scholarship in January 2007 in memory of Stephen W. Cavanaugh. Mr. Cavanaugh served as LWCC’s president and CEO until 2006 and made lasting contributions to Louisiana’s insurance industry. Kristin W. Wall succeeded him as president and CEO.

Eligibility
Eligibility: Applicants must be accepted at or currently attending a Louisiana university, college, or community college. They must be pursuing an education or degree in an insurance-related field. The source does not specify additional eligibility requirements.

Award

Required Documents
Application Materials: Applicants must submit a completed scholarship application and a 250–500-word statement explaining why they are pursuing a career in the insurance industry. The application must also include a recommendation letter from a teacher or professor and an official transcript. An official copy of ACT or SAT scores is also required.
