Scholarship overview
This award commemorates Curt Greene, a longtime contributor to the Standardbred world who worked his way through school and later served in many roles within the industry. A member of the Harness Racing Hall of Fame Communicator’s Corner, Curt was known for his energy and enthusiasm. The scholarship is intended for students who share his passion for harness racing.
Eligibility and requirements
- Open to students with a demonstrated interest in any aspect of harness racing and who can demonstrate financial need.
- Applicant may be pursuing a career in harness racing or not.
- Must be at least a high school senior. Graduate students are not eligible.
- Minimum cumulative GPA: 2.5.
- Must be (or plan to be) enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 credit hours).
- Application materials and any attachments must be typed.
- The applicant’s name must appear on every page of the application and all attachments.
- You may attach additional pages to list achievements and to answer essay questions as needed.
- Responses should be concise but specific to the question asked.
- Applicants must reapply each year; prior recipients are eligible to apply again.
- Before funds are released, recipient(s) will be required to provide a high-quality digital photo and verification of full-time enrollment.

Include the following with your submission:
1. Completed and signed application form.
2. Copy of your most recent transcript.
3. Video.
4. Two letters of reference (these may be mailed separately).
5. Any other information requested on the application that is not already included.
Deadlines, notification, and where to send your application
- Application deadline: All materials must be received or postmarked by June 1.
- Award notification: Applicants will be notified of their status on or before July 15.

If you email your application, combine all documents and attachments into a single scanned file, except for items that will be mailed from another source (for example, letters of reference or official transcripts).

- Can I apply for more than one HHYF scholarship? Yes—if you meet eligibility for multiple awards you may submit applications for more than one. However, an applicant may receive no more than one HHYF scholarship in a single year.
- Who chooses the recipients? Final selections are made by a committee of HHYF trustees together with representative(s) from the scholarship sponsor(s).
