Burger King Scholars Program
Scholarship Sponsored by Burger King McLamore Foundation
The BK Scholars initiative has been instrumental in providing financial assistance to over 54,000 deserving students across North America, with nearly $64 million in scholarships awarded to date. Our ambition is to offer one scholarship for each BK restaurant, which equates to over $7 million in scholarships annually. The BK Scholars Program, the cornerstone of our Foundation, was established in honor of James W. McLamore, co-founder of the Burger King brand. McLamore was renowned for his dedication to philanthropy and education, making him a stalwart of community service throughout his life. The program aims to uphold his legacy by awarding scholarships to deserving high school seniors, Burger King employees, and their families, to further their education. Thanks to McLamore's enduring legacy and the support of our franchisees, the program has awarded over $60 million in scholarships to more than 51,000 deserving students across North America since its inception in 2000. Scholarships awarded through the program range from $1,000 to $60,000, designed to help alleviate the financial burden of pursuing higher education or vocational/technical training. The selection process for recipients takes into account various factors, including their GPA, work experience, extracurricular activities, financial need, and community service. In 2024 alone, the Foundation granted over $4.5 million in scholarships to nearly 4,200 students. The application window for the 2026-2027 cycle will commence on October 15th, 2025. It will remain open until we have received 30,000 applications or until December 15th, 2025, whichever comes first.
