2027 Memorial Scholarships
For 2027, NMASBO will select two recipients from the applicant pool to receive memorial scholarships: the 17th Annual Joni Heinsohn Memorial Scholarship and the 5th Annual Joey Montaño Memorial Scholarship. Each memorial award in 2027 is valued at $2,500 and will be presented to applicants who best demonstrate financial need and a clear, purposeful plan for the funds. These memorial scholarships are awarded from the same application pool and are governed by the same eligibility criteria and selection process used for NMASBO scholarships. The memorials honor the contributions of two individuals whose leadership shaped the association.

History of the Awards
The memorial scholarships recognize the lasting contributions of two leaders who shaped NMASBO. The Annual Joni Heinsohn Memorial Scholarship was established by the NMASBO Board to honor Joni’s dedication and lasting impact on the association. The Annual Joey Montaño Memorial Scholarship was established in 2023 to honor Joey Montaño’s service as Executive Director from 2003 to 2018 and his role in transforming NMASBO into a sustainable, forward-thinking organization. Both awards serve to perpetuate the legacy and values these individuals brought to the association.

2027 Scholarship Rules
