South Carolina Need-Based Grant Program

Overview
The State Need-Based Grant is available exclusively to residents of South Carolina and may be applied for up to eight academic semesters. Awards range from $100 to $1,500 per semester and are awarded according to financial need as determined under Title IV federal regulations.
Who is eligible
To qualify for this grant, an applicant must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be enrolled as a full‑time undergraduate student.
- Be pursuing their first bachelor’s degree (a four‑year baccalaureate program).
- Be a lawful resident of South Carolina.
- Submit a completed FAFSA.
- Demonstrate financial need in accordance with Title IV rules.
- Not have been adjudicated delinquent, convicted of, or pleaded guilty or nolo contendere to any felony in any jurisdiction.
- Not have a conviction for a second or subsequent alcohol- or drug-related misdemeanor in any state within the most recent academic year.
- Not be in default on, or owe a refund or repayment for, any federal or state financial aid.
- Be maintaining satisfactory academic progress.
