Rural Technology Fund Cyber Security Scholarship

The Cyber Security Scholarship, provided through partnership with SANS Institute, is awarded annually to up to up to three students from a rural community anywhere in the United States. The scholarship provides a $1,000 cash award for education expenses along with the opportunity to take up to 2 SANS training courses and the two corresponding GIAC certification exams. These certifications are highly desirable by employers and provide a jumpstart towards a career in cyber security.
To be considered for this scholarship, an applicant must be planning to attend college to pursue a degree in a computer technology related field, with a focus on security. This scholarship is awarded based upon answers to a series of essay questions that are designed to gauge the student’s passion for security and insight into the field, as well as the student’s sense of citizenship and pride in their rural community. You must have grown up in or attended high school in a rural area to be eligible for this scholarship.
