Since 1966, when HGEA established the Charles R. Kendall Scholarship and Education Fund, our union has been dedicated to helping members and their dependents reach their educational goals.
Three scholarship opportunities are now offered by the fund. They include the C.R. Kendall Scholarship, the Russell K. Okata Scholarship, and the Union Strong Scholarship.
The fund also helps members further their professional development with continuing education grants. HGEA has given more than 2,000 awards to deserving members and dependents of our union.
Scholarship Recipients
Twenty-one members and dependents were awarded a total of $44,000 this year in Kendall, Okata and Union Strong Scholarships. Recipients range from members who are earning their degrees and furthering their professional development to dependents attending universities and colleges on the mainland and here at home.
