Overview
Active 20-30 International offers young adults opportunities for leadership development, friendship, and personal growth while working to enhance life for children in local communities. The Active 20-30 Club of Greater Sacramento #1032 is made up of women ages 20–39 from the Greater Sacramento region who donate their time to support children through fundraising and hands-on programs. As part of this effort, the club is proud to offer scholarship awards. Applicants may apply to only one scholarship opportunity.
About this scholarship
Established in 2010, this scholarship honors students who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service.
Eligibility
To be considered, applicants must:
- Be a graduating high school senior.
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Show community service / volunteer experience (hours must be verifiable).
- Plan to enroll in the upcoming academic year at a two- or four-year college or university, or at a vocational/trade school.
- Live in or attend school in the Greater Sacramento area (Sacramento, Placer, or Yolo Counties).
Application materials and instructions
1. Download, complete, and keep a personal copy of the application form.
2. Essay #1 — Community Service: Active 20-30’s mission is: “Providing young adults an opportunity for personal growth, friendships, and leadership development while improving the quality of life for the underserved children in our communities.” Describe how your volunteer work reflects this mission. Include specific examples. What benefits did others receive from your service? What did you gain personally?
3. Essay #2 — Future Plans and Goals: Outline your college plans and long-term goals. What major are you considering and why? How do you plan to give back to the community over the next two years? Explain what led you to choose your field and what qualities you possess that will make you successful in that profession.
4. A copy of your high school transcript.
5. Verification of community service hours.
6. Optional: Up to two letters of recommendation from non-related individuals.
7. Upload all required (and optional) documents using the online submission form.
