Texas Beginning Teacher Scholarship

The First-Year Teacher Scholarship is designed to financially aid the beneficiary in acquiring classroom materials.
Starting from August 15, 2025, interested individuals can obtain an application form from the TRTF website. It is crucial that all applications are fully submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 09, 2026, as late submissions will not be entertained.
The scholarship winners will be unveiled on Friday, February 27, 2026. The successful applicants will be informed via email, and their names will be published on the TRTF website and Facebook page.
Since its inception in 2008, TRTF has granted over $225,000 in scholarships.
Procedure for Applying for the First-Year Teacher Scholarship:
The First-Year Teacher Scholarship aims to financially support the beneficiary in acquiring classroom materials. The Texas Retired Teachers Foundation (TRTF) will grant 35 scholarships, each worth $1,000, for the 2024-2025 academic year to first-year public-school educators. Application forms can be downloaded from the TRTF website at www.trtf.org starting from September 15, 2023. It is mandatory that all applications are fully submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024. Late submissions will not be entertained.
Eligibility Criteria for Scholarship Applicants:
An applicant must:
- be a current employee of a Texas public school district and actively teaching in the classroom.
- ensure his or her application is submitted by 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2026.
- Instructions to Apply for a TRTF Beginning Teacher Scholarship:
- Obtain the application form at www.trtf.org.
- Fill out and submit the application via email ([email protected]) or U.S. Mail. Only one submission method should be chosen.
- Ensure the application and necessary documents are received no later than 5:00 p.m. on or before January 26, 2024.
Review of Scholarship Applications:
All applications for the TRTF First-Year Teacher Scholarship will be competitively evaluated by the Scholarship Committee.
