CBC Spouses Education Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Congressional Black Caucus Foundation
Introduction Founded in 1988 by the spouses of members of the Congressional Black Caucus, this scholarship was created to respond to reductions in federal funding for education and scholarship programs that have disproportionately impacted communities of color. It provides financial support to academically qualified, highly motivated African-American/Black students enrolled in or planning to enroll in undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral programs across a range of disciplines.
CBC Spouses Education Scholarship — Overview The CBC Spouses Education Scholarship supports full-time students (undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral/PhD) who demonstrate academic promise and strong motivation to succeed in their chosen fields.
Eligibility Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident.
- Live in, or attend a college or university located in, the congressional district of a CBC member.
- Be enrolled (or intend to enroll) full-time in an accredited undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral program. Graduating high school seniors who will begin college full-time are eligible to apply.
- Have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Demonstrate leadership and active involvement in their community.
Application Requirements To be considered, applicants must submit a two-part online application by the March deadline and include the following items:
- A video personal statement (maximum length: 3 minutes).
- One letter of recommendation.
- Transcript(s) uploaded directly to the application portal (unofficial transcripts are acceptable).
- A resume detailing work experience, extracurricular activities, honors, community service, and special skills.
Note: Complete submission of all required components by the March deadline is necessary for consideration.
