Overview
The HIE Help Center offers one annual scholarship of $1,000 to a single undergraduate or graduate student who intends to pursue a career in physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology/therapy. Follow @HIEHelpCenter on social media for updates and the winner announcement.
Current status and timeline

- The next application window for the 2026 award opens June 30, 2026 and closes July 31, 2026. Please read the instructions carefully so your submission is complete and eligible.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must:
- Be enrolled in an accredited U.S. institution of higher education (undergraduate or graduate level).
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.
- NOT be a past, current, or prospective client of ABC Law Centers (the law firm that sponsors the HIE Help Center).
APPLICATION MATERIALS (Required)
All applicants must submit the following by the deadline:
1. A completed scholarship application (see Submission section).
2. An official or unofficial academic transcript.
3. A response to the prompt below, submitted as one Project (essay or creative project):
Prompt: Why have you chosen to pursue occupational, physical, or speech therapy? Describe what will distinguish your approach as a future practitioner in your chosen field.
Project options (choose one)
- Essay: 750–1,000 words. Use 12‑point Times New Roman font, double-spaced. Include your last name, page numbers, and the scholarship name in the header. Save and submit the essay as a PDF. Essays that do not meet these formatting requirements or that fail to address the prompt will be disqualified.
- Creative project: Examples include photo series, short multimedia presentations, creative writing, or performance pieces. Video entries must not exceed five minutes.
SUBMISSION
- Submission period for the 2026 scholarship: June 30, 2026 through July 31, 2026.
- Ensure all required materials are included and follow the format instructions for the chosen Project option.
AWARD AND PUBLICITY
- The one $1,000 scholarship will be paid by check made payable to the educational institution or program where the recipient is enrolled.
- The winner will be featured on our site with a brief biography, their school name, and a photo. Past winning entries are available to view online.
