This scholarship was inspired by a story James McCavitt saw in the paper about the Sze Lee Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship formerly administered by Peninsula Community Foundation. He set up the scholarship in honor of his parents, James A. McCavitt and Annie LePors McCavitt. Mr. McCavitt hopes they will be remembered throughout the Tussey Mountain School District and the Broad Top area in Pennsylvania as model parents who would want others to benefit from their words: "Get an education and make something of yourselves."
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Current graduating senior from the Tussey Mountain School District in PennsylvaniaPlanning to enroll on a full-time basis in a college or university
- Demonstrated financial need and desire to contribute knowledge in service-oriented areas of study such as education, nursing, law enforcement, medical research or social work.
