Starting from September 12, 2023, Shred Nations and Record Nations will commence the acceptance of scholarship applications for the academic year 2024/2025.
Details of the $7,500 Scholarship
Shred Nations and Record Nations, both Colorado-based firms, are committed to fostering the economic prosperity of businesses in the shredding, secure destruction, and management sectors. As members of i-SIGMA, they acknowledge the value of advanced education for those keen on business, environmental stewardship, and future community contributions. Both firms are advocates for the independent shredding and document management industry and are dedicated to giving back to these providers by offering a scholarship for students pursuing higher education.
The Shred Nations and Record Nations Scholarship is a yearly award of up to $7,500 to help cover the expenses of higher education. The scholarship amount may be split into two separate payments, which will be made directly to the recipient's chosen accredited university, college, or trade school.

Criteria for Scholarship Eligibility
- Applicants should have completed secondary school or be in their final year of secondary school.
- Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and an interest in business, environmental studies, document management, or the shredding and recycling industry.
- Applicants must provide a nomination from an i-SIGMA member. i-SIGMA members include any employee or owner of an i-SIGMA member company.

One scholarship will be awarded for the academic year, and previous recipients are eligible to reapply for subsequent years. However, Shred Nations and Record Nations employees and their immediate or extended family members are not eligible for the scholarship.
Application Submission
Shred Nations and Record Nations will start accepting applications from July 1 of each year the scholarship is offered. Applications for the 2024/2025 academic year must be submitted by Tuesday, February 6th, 2024 (11:59 PM Mountain Time)
Applicants can complete the application form available at https://www.shrednations.com/scholarship/. All application materials should include the applicant's full name and be clearly marked for the Shred Nations and Record Nations Annual Scholarship.
Criteria for Selection
Applicants who intend to pursue a career in the secure destruction or document management industry and whose degree program offers the most potential benefit to their prospective employer will be given preference.
The Selection Committee will evaluate all applicants based on the following criteria, along with any other considerations deemed relevant to the scholarship's purpose.
Academic Merit:
The selection committee will assess the applicant's academic performance and rigor, including high school and college/university transcripts, honors, and awards.
Character:
The applicant's character will be assessed based on a recommendation from an i-SIGMA member owner/executive. The applicant's extracurricular activities and related merits will also be considered.
Contribution to Document Management or Destruction Industry:
Applicants should submit a 500 – 1,000-word essay OR a 60-second video detailing how their studies can enhance business, environmental responsibility, and future community contributions, including interest in the secure management or destruction industry, and what value they can bring to a potential hiring company.
The scholarship will be presented at the i-SIGMA Annual Conference for the academic year starting in the fall of the award year. For instance, if the scholarship is presented at the 2024 i-SIGMA annual conference, it will apply to the 2024-2025 academic year. The summer semester is considered part of the preceding academic year for this scholarship. For example, the summer semester 2022 is considered part of the 2021-2022 academic year for this scholarship.
