Gratiot County Fair for Youth Memorial Scholarship — Overview
Established in 2012 by a group of volunteers, the Gratiot County Fair for Youth Memorial Scholarship honors exceptional youth exhibitors while helping them pursue post‑secondary education. The scholarship also serves as a tribute to dedicated Fair volunteers who are no longer with us.
Awards
- Two scholarships, each valued at $900.
Who is eligible
- Graduating high school seniors who have been accepted to a college, university, or trade school, OR students currently in their first year at a college, university, or trade program.
- Current Gratiot County Fair for Youth exhibitors with at least five years of participation. Preference will be given to applicants who have exhibited in multiple areas.
- Applicants must demonstrate leadership and a commitment to community service.
- Previous recipients of this scholarship are not eligible to reapply.
Application requirements
- A one‑page, typewritten essay (single page maximum) in an easy‑to‑read font describing the skills gained from exhibiting at the Fair and explaining how those skills will benefit you throughout life. Be sure the essay addresses the eligibility criteria listed above.
- At least one personal letter of reference.
Note: Applicants should ensure all parts of the application clearly demonstrate the required experience, leadership, and service.
