Overview The Gratiot County Community Foundation, incorporated in 1992, serves as a permanent repository for charitable contributions intended to benefit Gratiot County. Organized as a nonprofit corporation and recognized as a public charity under the Internal Revenue Code, gifts to the Foundation generally qualify for federal income tax deductions. Contributions may be made during a donor’s lifetime or designated through wills and trusts, and can include cash, real estate, marketable securities, life insurance policies, and other personal property. Award Amount - One scholarship will be awarded, up to $600. Who May Apply Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria: - Be a graduating senior of Ithaca High School planning to attend a college or university, or be a currently enrolled college/university underclassman pursuing a degree in Pharmacology (given first preference, but not exclusively) or a degree in a qualifying licensed human health profession. - Previous scholarship recipients are welcome to reapply; prior award does not confer preferential treatment. - Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. - Demonstrate financial need. - Submit a personal letter of recommendation from a non-relative (for example, clergy, teacher, or advisor). - Provide a one-page, typewritten essay explaining why you chose your field (pharmacology or other medical field) and what you aim to achieve in your career.
