Robert W MacDonald Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Gratiot County Community Foundation
Introduction
Robert W. MacDonald developed a love of the written word early in life. Journalism was part of him from boyhood and became his lifelong profession. He owned and published the Gratiot County Herald for many years until his passing. In memory of Robert and his devotion to journalism, the MacDonald family established this scholarship. They set a high bar for recipients—qualities that mirror Robert’s own character: strong citizenship at school and in the community, high moral standards, a readiness to serve others, and a passion for journalism.
