Who may apply
- Must be either a graduating high school senior or a college freshman.
- Pursuing a full-time bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: business, education, engineering, law, math, medicine, psychology, or science.
- Must show leadership and participation in school or community activities and demonstrate academic achievement.
- Applicants are required to demonstrate financial need.
Residence and school requirements
- Applicant must have been a Kalamazoo County resident for at least 12 months before applying.
- Must attend (or be graduating from) a Kalamazoo County high school.
Award details
- Award amount: $4,500 or more.
- Renewable for up to three additional years, provided renewal criteria are met.
About the scholarship
- The fund honors Clarence L. Remynse, a Kalamazoo native who graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and Kalamazoo College. After finishing college he remained in Kalamazoo and later founded the Remynse Construction Company. Following his death in 1989, the Clarence L. Remynse Scholarship was created at the Kalamazoo Community Foundation to continue his legacy of education, dedication to work, and commitment to the community.
