Science Ambassador Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Cards Against Humanity
Overview
Cards Against Humanity offers an annual scholarship to support women pursuing careers in STEM. The award targets female high school seniors and undergraduate students studying science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. The program emphasizes public STEM communication and teaching ability rather than production value. Applications are evaluated for clarity, accuracy, and evidence of passion for the subject matter.
Description: An annual scholarship administered by Cards Against Humanity focused on STEM education and outreach.
Eligibility: Female high school seniors or undergraduate students pursuing STEM fields.
- Supports women in STEM at the high school and undergraduate levels.
- Prioritizes teaching and communication skills.
- Production quality of submissions is not a selection factor.
How to Apply
Applicants must submit a short educational video demonstrating their ability to teach a STEM topic clearly and engagingly. The video should be a mini-lecture delivered to a hypothetical classroom audience, focused on explaining a specific concept rather than serving as a personal statement. Submission requires uploading the video to YouTube and marking it public; videos longer than three minutes will not be considered. Citations for factual claims are encouraged and can be shown in a final slide or frame.
Application Requirements: Film a three-minute (or shorter) mini-lecture on any STEM topic and upload it to YouTube as public.
- Keep the video to three minutes or less—no exceptions.
- Present a mini-lecture, not a personal narrative.
- Content must be scientifically accurate; cite sources if possible.
- Creative and memorable approaches are encouraged; production value is not judged.
Selection & Review
An advisory board composed of women and non-binary STEM professionals with advanced degrees reviews submissions and selects finalists. The panel evaluates clarity, accuracy, creativity, and demonstrated passion for the subject. Finalists will be asked to submit additional materials if selected. The process focuses on applicants’ teaching effectiveness and subject mastery rather than technical production skills.
Review Panel: Women and non-binary professionals from a broad range of STEM fields will evaluate applications and choose finalists.
- Evaluation criteria include clarity, accuracy, creativity, and enthusiasm.
- Finalists are asked for supplemental materials to complete review.
- The panel prioritizes pedagogical effectiveness over video production quality.
