Overview
This scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who plan to enroll at a college, university, community college, or technical school in Louisiana. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
Retention Requirement
If awarded, recipients must enroll full-time (a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester) and maintain a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher to keep the scholarship.
How to Apply — Required Materials (initial submission)
All applicants must submit the following items. Photocopies of the application form are acceptable.
- Completed official application form.
- Official high school transcript.
- Recent, appropriate photo.
- All required signature pages.
- Copy of SAT or ACT scores.
- Two reference letters: each must be returned in a sealed envelope with the referee’s signature across the back flap.
Selection Process
The Board of Trustees exclusively determines scholarship awards. Candidates are evaluated based on (not in order): academic record (minimum 3.0 GPA), leadership shown through extracurricular activities, demonstrated financial need, references, honors/awards, community service, work or volunteer experience, and distinctive life experiences.
Finalists
Applicants chosen as finalists may be asked to participate in a personal interview with Board representatives. Finalists will be informed prior to April 1st.
Other Conditions
- Awards are made without regard to race, sex, age, religion, color, or national origin.
- All decisions by the Board of Trustees are final.
- Submitted applications and supporting materials become the property of the JonCade Thomas Clemons Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Deadline
Complete applications, including all required documents, must be postmarked no later than February 2, 2026. Any application postmarked after that date will not be considered.
