Introduction
Established in 2004 through the Waldemar Muehlberger Estate, the Muehlberger Scholarship supports undergraduate study in education or health-care-related fields for residents of the Nebraska Panhandle and adjacent Goshen County, Wyoming. Awards are made annually, with winners and alternates chosen each year.

Award details
- Amount and duration: Recipients receive $1,000 per year ($500 each semester), renewable for up to four years (maximum total of $4,000) for undergraduate study.
- Payment: Scholarship funds are sent directly to the recipient’s school and posted to the student account.
Application requirements and deadline
- Deadline: All applications and supporting materials must be submitted by April 1st.
- High school applicants must complete the online application and upload an official copy of their ACT (or SAT) score and a high school transcript. Final senior-year grades are not required at the time of application.
- College and non-traditional applicants must upload their most recent academic transcript.
Renewal and ongoing responsibilities
- Renewal conditions: To remain eligible for renewal, recipients must continue to meet full-time enrollment and the minimum 2.5 GPA requirement.
- Transcript submission: Scholarship recipients are required to send college transcripts to the Oregon Trail Community Foundation (OTCF) within three (3) weeks after each grading period ends. Failure to provide transcripts may end scholarship renewal eligibility.
- Address and enrollment changes: Recipients (and their parents, if applicable) must notify OTCF of any address or phone number changes. If a recipient transfers to another college, OTCF must be informed. If a recipient fails to enroll as a full-time student for the first semester the award is intended to fund, the scholarship may be rescinded and given to the alternate.
