Introduction
Greater Than Gatsby created an annual scholarship as part of a new initiative to support the next generation of visual artists and content creators. Founded in 2012, Greater Than Gatsby is now recognized as a leading producer of professional, high-quality Lightroom presets and Photoshop actions. Each year two winners will receive $1,000 USD apiece to assist with tuition and other qualified academic expenses at an accredited, nonprofit college, university, or vocational/technical school in the United States.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be recently accepted high‑school students (accepted to a U.S. accredited school), current undergraduate students, or graduate students enrolled at an accredited institution in the United States.
- Intended or declared majors should be in art, communications, English, film, fine arts, journalism, multimedia, photography, visual arts, or related fields.
- If selected, winners must be able to verify identity. Acceptable forms of ID include a student ID or a driver’s license.
Application requirements
To apply, prepare the following and submit as instructed below:
- Three (3) photographs that showcase your strongest photography work. Each image must be no larger than 1,000 pixels on the longest side and 72 dpi.
- A minimum 500-word essay explaining your interest in photography and/or how photography connects to your career goals or personal passion.
- Contact information: full name, mailing address, and phone number.
- Educational details: the name of the school you are attending or will attend, plus the address and phone number for that school’s financial aid office.
- Combine all files into a single .zip package and email it to [email protected] with the subject line: Gatsby Scholarship Submission - Your Name
Deadlines, notification, and award disbursement
- Application deadline: May 1 each year.
- Winners will be notified by email and publicly announced on the Greater Than Gatsby website on June 1 (one month after the deadline).
- Scholarship funds will be issued as a co-payable check and mailed directly to the recipient’s school.
