The American Legion — Department of Florida administers multiple scholarship programs for high school and college students, with a special emphasis on applicants connected to veterans and the military community.
Nursing Scholarship (Department of Florida)
This scholarship is intended for students enrolled in an accredited nursing program in Florida.
Award
- One first-place scholarship in the amount of $2,750.00.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of Florida.
- Be enrolled in an accredited Florida nursing school and entering their second year of study.
Nomination Packet (required)
Each nomination must include the following items:
1. A nomination letter from the nursing school’s dean or the dean’s designee addressing the nominee’s:
- Leadership qualities
- Academic performance through the first year of nursing school
- Awards, honors, notable research projects, and extracurricular activities, with emphasis on leadership roles
2. A letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
3. A personal statement, written by the nominee, of no more than 250 words describing why they chose nursing and how they plan to contribute to improving health care in their local community.
4. A curriculum vitae (CV) that includes clear contact information for the nominee.
