AFCEA STEM Major Scholarships

AFCEA STEM Scholarship Program — Overview
AFCEA awards multiple scholarships to undergraduate students pursuing STEM fields:
- STEM Major Scholarship — $2,500
- Cyber Security Scholarship — $5,000
- Student Member Scholarship — $2,500
Only one application is required. Completing a single application will place you in consideration for every AFCEA STEM scholarship for which you qualify.
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, applicants must satisfy all of the following:
- Be a full-time undergraduate student at a four-year accredited U.S. college or university.
- Hold sophomore or junior status at the time of application.
- Online degree programs are acceptable.
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in the current academic program.
- Be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident.

- Astronomy
- Biometry / Biometrics
- Computer Engineering
- Computer Forensics Science
- Computer Programming
- Computer Science
- Computer Systems
- Cybersecurity
- Electrical Engineering

Who is Not Eligible
The following applicants are ineligible for the STEM Major Scholarships:
- Students enrolled at a community college who plan to transfer to a four-year institution
- Students in two-year college programs
- Freshmen or seniors at a four-year university
- High school seniors
Funding Use
Scholarship awards depend on fund availability. Awards may be applied only to tuition and required course-related costs, such as fees, textbooks, supplies, and equipment necessary for university coursework.
Cyber Security Scholarship — Additional Requirements
In addition to meeting all general STEM scholarship eligibility criteria, applicants for the Cyber Security Scholarship must be majoring in one of the following or a closely related field supporting U.S. cyber operations:
- Cybersecurity
- Computer Science
- Digital Forensics
- Information Assurance
- Information Technology
- Electronic Engineering
- Other fields directly supporting U.S. cyber enterprises
Student Member Scholarship — Additional Requirement
Applicants for the Student Member Scholarship must meet the general STEM eligibility standards and also hold an active AFCEA membership (either a student membership or a Junior Enlisted membership).
Application Checklist and Submission Instructions
Applications must include:
- A completed application form.
- At least one letter of recommendation from a professor at the applicant’s current institution.
- Recommenders must submit letters in PDF format by email to [email protected].
- Applicants are responsible for arranging submission with their recommender(s).
- Official transcript(s) showing all college-level coursework, including the Fall 2025 semester.
- If current (in-progress) coursework is not listed on transcripts, provide registration documentation that demonstrates current enrollment.
- Transcripts should be sent electronically from the applicant’s school to [email protected].
- If electronic submission is not possible, official documents must be mailed to the address shown on the application and must arrive no later than May 1, 2026.
Applications must be complete and include all required supporting materials to be considered.
