Thank you for your interest in Finlandia Foundation National’s scholarship opportunities. Each year FFN provides financial awards to support post‑secondary education and also offers a dedicated scholarship for law students in the United States and Finland.
Important dates
- The application window opens November 1, 2025.
- All applications and required supporting materials must be received by 11:59 P.M. PST on FEBRUARY 1, 2026.
- Applicants will be notified of decisions by mail in mid‑April.
- Awards are evaluated in the spring and are intended to fund the recipient’s following fall or spring term. Scholarship funds are sent after FFN receives proof of enrollment for the awarded term.

About FFN scholarships
Finlandia Foundation National began awarding scholarships in the 1950s, originally supporting students at music institutions such as the Sibelius Academy and The Juilliard School. Today, the number of donor‑funded scholarships varies with available funds each year. Individual awards typically range from $1,000 to $3,000 per recipient.
Who is eligible
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Hold U.S. or Finnish citizenship.
- Be a high school graduate.
- Be enrolled full‑time at an accredited college or university in the United States or Finland and continuing study at the sophomore level or beyond (undergraduate or graduate students).
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Not be a relative of any member of the Finlandia Foundation National Board of Trustees.
- Not be receiving two back‑to‑back FFN scholarships (consecutive awards are not allowed).
Special consideration may be given to candidates whose course of study relates to Finnish culture or heritage.
Note: If you received an FFN scholarship for the 2024–25 academic year (award made in 2024), you are eligible to reapply for the 2026–27 academic year (application in 2026).
Required application materials
Applications must include:
- The most recent college or university transcript.
- Two letters of recommendation. One letter must come from a college or university faculty member and must be submitted on official letterhead.
Applications that do not include all required documents or that fail to meet the eligibility criteria will be disqualified. If you have questions about the application process or required materials, please contact FFN before the deadline.
