INTRODUCTION
The Maureen O’Keefe Aptowicz Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the memory of a valued former member. The Northern Ocean County Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW-NOCB) will award a $1,000 scholarship to a qualified student from Ocean or Monmouth County, New Jersey.
ANNOUNCEMENT
AAUW Northern Ocean County Branch will present a $1,000 Maureen O’Keefe Aptowicz Memorial Scholarship in memory of Maureen O’Keefe Aptowicz.
ELIGIBILITY
- High school senior, graduating with the class of 2025.
- Resident of Ocean County or Monmouth County, NJ.
- Accepted and enrolled full-time in college for the 2025–2026 academic year.
- Intending to major in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
- Must embrace and support the mission of AAUW: “The American Association of University Women (AAUW) advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, philanthropy, and research.”
APPLICATION MATERIALS (required)
1. Official high school transcript — include it with your submission or arrange for an official copy to be mailed to AAUW-NOCB at the address below.
2. College acceptance letter — a copy showing admission to a college for the 2025–2026 school year.
3. Completed scholarship application — the AAUW Northern Ocean County Maureen O’Keefe Aptowicz Memorial Scholarship application form.
4. Essay — up to two double-spaced pages on a separate sheet. Describe your educational and career goals, personal ambitions, how you support AAUW’s mission, and explain why you are a deserving candidate for this scholarship.
SUBMISSION DETAILS
- Mail all materials to: AAUW-NOCB, 207 Chatham Lane, Pt. Pleasant, NJ 08742.
- Use a #10 envelope (4 1/8 inches by 9 1/2 inches).
- Postmark or delivery deadline: all applications must be received by May 1, 2025.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Applicants may apply for only ONE AAUW-NOCB scholarship.
- The scholarship recipient must be enrolled full-time in the 2025–2026 college year and pursuing a STEM-related major.
