Dr. Alice Angney Scholarship

Introduction
Established by the Vermont Superintendents Association (VSA) in 2007, the Dr. Alice Angney Scholarship for Leadership and Service honors Dr. Angney’s 40 years of dedication to public education and Vermont’s children. Her career is marked by a deep commitment to students, a strong advocacy for public schools, and a pursuit of excellence; she is recognized as both a leader and a public servant.
Award overview
For 2025, VSA will present a single $3,000 scholarship to a qualified Vermont high school senior. The award will be granted by a VSA selection committee that evaluates applicants on demonstrated initiative in overcoming a particular challenge, leadership and service within their community, and academic accomplishment. Applicants must also show a clear intention to continue their education after high school.
Eligibility and selection
- Applicant must be a high school senior who resides in Vermont.
- Selection factors: initiative in addressing a specific challenge, community leadership and service, and academic achievement.
- The recipient must indicate commitment to post-secondary education.
Notification and disbursement
The chosen student will be notified in early May. Scholarship funds will be released after the student provides verification of enrollment in a post-secondary educational program.
How to apply
Complete the application form and submit the required essay (paper or online). In addition, provide the following:
- Two letters of recommendation (at least one from an adult affiliated with the student’s high school) that speak to the applicant’s initiative in overcoming a challenge, leadership and community service, and academic performance.
- An official high school transcript.
- A brief statement describing post-secondary plans.
Submission instructions and deadline
All application materials may be sent by U.S. Mail or by email. All documents must arrive at the VSA office no later than NOON, Monday, March 17, 2025.
