Hancock County FB Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Hancock County Farm Bureau Foundation
Purpose
This scholarship program supports students heading to college who plan to study agriculture, agribusiness, or related fields — as well as those with a general interest or background in agriculture. Awards are based on outstanding academic achievement, demonstrated involvement in agricultural pursuits, and/or financial need.
Awards
Three scholarships will be granted, each valued at $2,000.
Ineligibility
Previous recipients of this scholarship are not permitted to reapply.
Required eligibility
All applicants must satisfy the following conditions at the time they apply:
- Be a high school senior, a high school graduate, or an enrolled college student.
- Show the ability and likelihood of successfully completing their chosen program of study.
- Be an Illinois resident.
- Be a member of the Hancock County Farm Bureau or a dependent of such a member.
Selection criteria
Applicants will be evaluated using these factors:
- Academic record, including honors and class rank.
- Demonstrated interest or involvement in agriculture and agribusiness.
- Financial need.
- Evidence of self-help: the ways in which the student contributes financially toward their education.
- Personal qualities: maturity, motivation, intellectual engagement, moral character, and leadership.
- Participation in an interview with a review panel, which will be scheduled after the application is received.
Applicants should ensure they meet the eligibility requirements and are prepared to attend an interview if selected for review.
