Overview
The Quell Foundation Bridge the Gap Scholarship provides a one-time, merit- and financial need-based award for students enrolled in Master’s-level graduate programs focused on delivering mental health services. Created to further The Quell Foundation’s mission, the scholarship aims to grow the pipeline of qualified mental health professionals, broaden access to essential services, and support reforms that expand the reach of clinical and behavioral health care.
Who should apply
Applicants should be pursuing a Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or another mental health–related discipline that leads to professional licensure and an intent to practice in the United States.
Required application materials
- Academic transcript
- Personal statement
- Two letters of recommendation (examples: professor, coach, counselor, or manager)
- Documentation of financial information: IRS Form 1040, Student Aid Report (SAR), or a tax return form
- Evidence of a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.80
Eligibility criteria
- Open only to students in Master’s-level graduate programs; doctoral students are not eligible.
- Applicant must be accepted to and enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Must be matriculated and maintain full-time enrollment in the Master’s program.
- Must earn passing grades in all courses.
- Minimum GPA requirement: 3.80.
- The scholarship is awarded based on merit and demonstrated financial need; recipients should show a strong academic record and/or relevant employment or training that reflects commitment to the field and the Foundation’s mission.
- The award must be used for tuition at a degree-granting institution during the 2025–2026 academic year only.
Recipient responsibilities and expectations
- Recipients are encouraged to host a campus screening of the Foundation’s documentary, Portraits of Life with Mental Illness, support a chapter of the Lift the Mask Club, and take part in community awareness activities.
- Awardees must comply with all behavioral, professional, and ethical standards required by their educational and/or licensing institutions.
- Recipients must demonstrate understanding of and commitment to The Quell Foundation’s mission.
- After preliminary notification of selection, awardees must provide a headshot and a brief thank-you video for use with donors and on the Foundation’s media channels.
- The scholarship check must be submitted to the student’s college or university and deposited by October 3, 2025.
Application notes
- This is a single disbursement award and may only be applied toward tuition expenses in the specified academic year (2025–2026).
