David P Shapiro Autism Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Law Office of David P Shapiro
Since 2016, our Firm has been committed to supporting educational pursuits by offering scholarships, and for the fourth time during this period, we are focusing on individuals dealing with autism spectrum disorder (“autism” or “ASD”). This marks our sixth scholarship initiative overall.
David P. Shapiro, the founder of the firm, emphasizes that our motto - “We help good people regain control of their future when charged with a crime” - goes beyond legal defense. It also encompasses our dedication to philanthropic endeavors and our aim to positively influence the San Diego community.
About the Scholarship
Autism encompasses a range of disorders often characterized by social difficulties, including challenges in verbal and nonverbal communication, which can impact educational experiences and opportunities. The selected recipient of this year's scholarship will receive $1,000 to be used towards tuition fees at their chosen educational institution, which could be a vocational or trade school, or a college (including junior college). The $1,000 will be paid directly to the institution selected by the scholarship winner.
Who Can Apply?
US citizens diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (DSM-5) and planning to continue their education are eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants may be asked to provide proof of their autism diagnosis. It is not necessary to be currently enrolled in school at the time of application, but the scholarship funds must be utilized within one year of the announcement of the scholarship winner.
