Application Materials
LAF requires a standardized set of materials for all scholarships and fellowships; this scholarship also has specific essay requirements. Prepare each document in the requested file format and size limits, and include identifying text and page numbers where requested. Upload each file according to the online system prompts. Review each item carefully to ensure it meets formatting and content rules.
Required Materials:
- General Submission Form: Complete the online form with contact information and degree program details.
- Photo: Color headshot in JPG format, at least 1800 × 1200 pixels, horizontally oriented, well-lit with a simple background, showing entire head and shoulders. LAF retains the right to use submitted photos in promotion of scholarship programs.
- Bio (150-word max): Short bio in PDF, Microsoft Word, or TXT describing background, education, future plans, and personal interests (150 words or fewer).
- Resume (2 page max): PDF resume/CV (maximum two pages) including education, experience, activities, honors, and awards. Include "Applicant Name/Resume/Scholarship Name" and page number on each page.
- Essay (2 page max, 300 words or less): PDF essay stating career goals and explaining how you will contribute to the advancement of landscape architecture, horticulture, or irrigation science. Limit to 300 words, no more than two pages, margins of at least 1", 10‑point or larger font, and no images or graphics. Include "Applicant Name/Essay/Scholarship Name" and page number on each page.
