Scholarship Sponsored by Association of California School Administrators Region 7
ACSA Region 7 provides several scholarship opportunities for members and students. The Region 7 Scholarship Committee is composed of the Region 7 President‑Elect and the President‑Elect from each charter. Committee members must recuse themselves from voting if their child is an applicant.
Alex Winchester / Sue Richards Scholarship
- Purpose: Support and encourage the professional development of ACSA members.
- Eligible applicants: Region 7 State ACSA members seeking professional development funding.
- Award: $500 each, awarded for the following events (one award per event): Academy, Personnel Institute, State Leadership Summit, Every Child Counts Symposium, CEL Institute, and the Region Spring Conference.
- Deadlines:
- Personnel Institute: September 5, 2025
- Academy: September 5, 2025
- State Leadership Summit: October 10, 2025
- Every Child Counts Symposium: December 12, 2025
- CEL Institute: January 16, 2026
- Region Spring Conference: March 31, 2026
- Note: Applicants must be State ACSA members. (Nomination/application form required.)
Ken Brown / Francine Gasper Scholarship
- Purpose: Help children of ACSA members pursue post‑high school education or training.
- Eligible applicants: Children of Region 7 State ACSA members.
- Award: $1,000 each; four scholarships awarded annually.
- Deadline: March 6, 2026
- Application requirements: Two letters of recommendation, an essay, and transcripts.
- Submission instructions: Letters of recommendation and transcripts should be emailed to Dr. Ben Howell at [email protected].
- Note: Parent/guardian must be a State ACSA member. (Nomination/application form required.)
Jane Johnston Every Student Succeeding (ESS) Award
- Purpose: Recognize students who have overcome significant challenges to succeed.
- Eligible applicants: One nominated student from each charter; Region 7 selects one student to advance to State.
- Regional award: The Region’s selected ESS student receives $1,000 for education.
- Deadlines:
- Charter nominations to Dr. Ben Howell: February 2–6, 2026 (use the State ACSA nomination form)
- Region submission to State ACSA: March 1, 2026
- Application: Nominations must be submitted on the State ACSA Every Student Succeeding nomination form. The Region selection committee will choose the Region ESS recipient and forward the nomination to State by March 1, 2026.

Region 7 2025 ESS Student
Each year, Region 7 selects one ESS student to represent the region at the State ACSA Leadership Summit. Congratulations to Zoe Blansett, named the 2025 Region 7 ESS Student. Zoe is a 12th‑grade student at Amador High School (Amador County Unified School District) and received a $1,000 scholarship at the Region 7 General Membership Assembly in April.
