Johnson County Academic Scholarships

The JCREMC Academic Scholarship Program is designed to inspire high school graduates to further their education and career training. It also aims to highlight the significance of the cooperative business model. Annually, JCREMC grants two academic scholarships, each worth $2,000, to local high school seniors. The recipients must be children or wards of JCREMC members and must be planning to attend an in-state college, university, or trade school post-graduation.

Students have the option to apply for the scholarship either online or via a hard copy. To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must submit the following four components:
- Official Application
- Online Version
- Printable PDF Version
- Essay
- Applicant's Statement Form
- Academic Transcript
The deadline for application submission is February 1, 2024. It is the applicant's duty to ensure that all four required elements of the application are submitted before the deadline. Incomplete applications will not be eligible for scholarship consideration. Please thoroughly review the rules and regulations.
Eligibility Criteria
The following conditions determine eligibility for the JCREMC scholarship:
- The applicant must be a child or legal ward of a JCREMC member.
- The applicant must be a high school senior with the necessary basic credits for college or trade school and intends to enroll in an Indiana college, university, or trade school in 2024.
- The applicant must have a current GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
- The scholarship application must be submitted either online via the JCREMC website or as a hard copy downloaded from the JCREMC website. All application materials must reach the JCREMC offices or be postmarked by the specified deadline.
- The applicant must submit an essay on a topic related to JCREMC’s mission. Essays can be submitted electronically as an attachment on the online application form or as a hard copy delivered or postmarked by the specified deadline.
Essay Guidelines
Applicants are required to submit an essay not exceeding 1,000 words.

Selection of Awardees
A Scholarship Selection Committee, comprising JCREMC staff, will choose the winners. The selected names will then be forwarded to the JCREMC Board of Directors for final approval. The non-voting scholarship administrator will redact applicant names and identifying information before judging.
Award Announcement
The scholarship recipients will be informed in mid-March 2024. The winners will be honored at the JCREMC Annual Meeting in April 2024, which will be held at the Franklin Performing Arts Center.
Disbursement of Funds
Each $2,000 award will be disbursed directly to the recipient's institution upon enrollment. An official enrollment verification is necessary to process the disbursement.
