Overview The CNCMachines.com Scholarship is awarded annually to outstanding students pursuing education in manufacturing, engineering, or closely related disciplines. Candidates studying for certifications, certificates, an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree are eligible. The single award is $2,500. The program is recurring and opens for new applications each year. Eligibility This scholarship is open to students enrolled in programs related to manufacturing, engineering, or similar fields who are working toward any of the following credentials: certification, certificate, associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or master’s degree. Topic and Background Industry 4.0 emphasizes “smart factories,” where connected machines and systems exchange information and coordinate actions with minimal human oversight. To date, many of these capabilities have been implemented primarily by large enterprises with substantial resources (for example, IBM, Siemens, and GE). Prompt How can Industry 4.0 practices be scaled so that small and mid-sized manufacturing facilities can realistically adopt these standards? Submission Requirements - Upload your essay as a Word document (.doc or .docx) or a PDF. - Length must be between 1,000 and 1,300 words. - Properly cite any external sources you reference. - Submissions must be original work; any plagiarized entries will be disqualified. Deadlines and Award - Submission deadline: 5:00 PM (EST) on Friday, December 6, 2024. - Scholarship amount: $2,500. - One winner will be announced on Friday, December 13, 2024.
