Missouri Chapter APWA Continuing Education Scholarship

Introduction
The Missouri Chapter and the St. Louis Branch of APWA offer scholarships to recognize Missouri students who have demonstrated strong academic achievement and personal accomplishment and who plan to pursue careers in public works. Awards are merit-based. Applicants must have permanent residence within the geographic boundary of the Missouri Chapter. Scholarship funds may be applied to any accredited technical school, technical college, college, or university.
Key deadlines and payment
- Application deadline: April 1 each year (applications received after this date will not be considered).
- Award notifications: no later than May 30 each year.
- Disbursement: scholarship payments will be issued after enrollment in the recipient’s school is confirmed.
Eligibility (summary)
- Permanent residence must be within the geographic boundary of the Missouri Chapter.

Scholarship opportunities
1) Missouri Chapter APWA Technology Scholarship — $2,000
- Eligibility: A senior or recent graduate of a Missouri high school located within the Missouri Chapter boundary who intends to enroll in an accredited technical school or technical college.
- Intended fields: Programs that prepare students for public works careers, such as construction technology, surveying, heavy equipment operation, parks and grounds, building maintenance, fleet maintenance, or related technical fields.
- Use of funds: Payable to any accredited technical school or technical college.
2) Missouri Chapter APWA Continuing Education Scholarship — $2,000
- Awards: Two different recipients:
- One graduate of a two-year program who plans to transfer to a four-year institution; and
- One student who is a rising sophomore or rising junior at a four-year college who intends to continue toward a four-year degree.
- Eligible majors: Engineering, public administration, or other majors related to public works.
- Residency: Must reside permanently within the Missouri Chapter geographic boundary.
- Use of funds: Award may be used at any accredited college or university.
3) Missouri Chapter APWA Professional Advancement Scholarship — reimbursement up to $500
- Eligibility: Current member in good standing of the APWA Missouri Chapter.
- Purpose: Reimbursement for expenses incurred to participate in APWA National programs such as the Emerging Leaders Academy or the Certified Public Works Professional (Supervisor or Manager) program.
- Reimbursable expenses: Registration fees, lodging, and travel (airfare, rental car, and/or mileage reimbursed at the current IRS rate).
- Payment: Reimbursement up to $500 upon submission of qualifying receipts and proof of participation.
4) St. Louis Branch APWA Ken Yost Memorial Scholarships — $2,000 each (two awarded annually)
- Eligibility: Two Missouri high school seniors with permanent residence within the Missouri Chapter boundary who plan to pursue a degree that leads to a public works career (examples include engineering, public administration, or related majors).
- Use of funds: Payable to any accredited college or university.
