The National Space Club and Foundation, founded in 1957, is a non-profit organization composed of representatives of industry, government, academia, and private individuals, who seek to promote the United States' leadership in the fields of space, rocketry, astronautics, and related technologies.

The Space Club offers a scholarship each year in memory of the Honorable Olin E. Teague, a Representative in Congress who aggressively supported our national space program, to encourage talented young people to pursue careers in aerospace fields.

OLIN E. TEAGUE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP CONDITION OF ELIGIBILITY

One $4,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a high school senior, graduating from an accredited U.S. high school, who meets the following criteria:

A) The applicant must be a U.S. Citizen.

B) The applicant must be a senior year in an accredited U.S. high school with the intent of attending an accredited U.S. college or university in the Fall.

C) The applicant must plan to pursue undergraduate or graduate studies in an aerospace field.

SCHOLARSHIP SELECTION PROCESS

The award decision is made by the Club's Committee on Scholarships based on the following:

A) Official transcript of high school record

B) At least one letter of recommendation from a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) faculty member or mentor

C) A Statement of Intent that indicates academic plans that would lead to a career in some area of aerospace sciences and/or technology; 500 words minimum, no longer than two pages

D) A research paper focusing on applications to aerospace, five pages minimum (see later sections for paper format)

E) Important note: "Research" in this context refers to the applicant's participation in original research, including in an ongoing project. It does not mean the method of reporting previously collected information from various sources.
