Eligibility

Applicants must meet specific membership, residency, and academic standards to be considered. Eligibility requires either membership in HIFICU or status as a legal dependent of a member, with the member account in good standing for at least three consecutive months prior to the application deadline. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. Complete documentation verifying these criteria may be required.

Selection Criteria

Applications are scored by a scholarship committee using multiple factors to assess academic achievement and personal merit. Evaluations consider the applicant’s certified transcript, leadership roles and activities, quality and impact of school or community service, letters of recommendation, and the applicant essay. The committee uses these categories to determine finalists and award recipients. Applicants should provide clear, verifiable documentation for each area of evaluation.

Selection Criteria: Academic performance, leadership, school/community service, recommendations, and essay merit guide the scoring process.

Review and Award

The scholarship judges will review all applications against the published selection criteria and make final decisions in December 2026. Recipients will be notified by mail to the address provided on the application and awards will be issued directly to the recipient’s financial aid office to be applied toward tuition and related fees. Awarded students must sign a media release and provide a photograph; HIFICU may request proof of citizenship or permanent residency and timely submission of such evidence is required. Failure to provide requested documentation may result in disqualification.

Award Value: Twenty scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded.

Application Timeline: Final decisions are scheduled for December 2026; notification will be by mail and awards are distributed to the institution’s financial aid office.
