ASTTBC High School Bursary

Introduction
Since 1990 the ASTTBC Foundation has contributed more than $500,000 to support post-secondary students in technology fields and to advance STEM education across British Columbia. The Foundation is an independent charitable organization that collects donations and directs those funds to promote awareness and education in applied science and engineering technology.

Available Awards and Eligibility
The Foundation awards several bursaries and prizes each year to students enrolled in programs recognized by ASTTBC. In particular, it offers an annual $1,000 High School Bursary to a graduating BC secondary student who will begin an applied science or engineering technology diploma or certificate program at an ASTTBC-recognized institution in fall 2026.

General eligibility rules for Foundation awards
- For post-secondary awards/bursaries: you must be enrolled full-time in a technology program that is recognized by ASTTBC. Students should check with their instructors or apply through their post-secondary institution’s Awards Office for available awards.
- For the High School Bursary (this $1,000 award): applicants must (1) be graduating from a BC secondary school in 2026, and (2) be entering an ASTTBC-recognized applied science or engineering technology diploma/certificate program at one of the eligible post-secondary institutions in fall 2026.

- Brighton College
- British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT)
- Camosun College
- College of New Caledonia
- Kwantlen Polytechnic University
- North Island College
- Okanagan College
- Selkirk College
- Thompson Rivers University

Selection criteria
The $1,000 bursary is awarded based on a combination of academic achievement, demonstrated financial need, and the applicant’s personal statement.

How to Apply
- Complete the bursary application form and attach the required supporting documents (see below).
- Email the application and attachments in PDF format to [email protected].
- You should receive an email confirmation of receipt within three business days.

Deadline
All application materials must be submitted by August 14, 2026 at 6:00 pm PST.

Required supporting documents (PDF)
Include the following as addenda to your emailed application:
1. A copy of your official or unofficial high school transcript (must be complete and list all high school courses).
2. Proof of enrolment in an eligible program. If you do not yet have proof of enrolment, include a copy of your post-secondary acceptance letter.

Review, Notification and Payment
Applications are assessed by the volunteer board of the ASTTBC Foundation. Successful applicants will be notified in September 2026. The bursary cheque will only be issued after the Foundation receives verification of enrolment in an eligible technology program.

Information provided on the application is used solely for assessment purposes and is kept confidential by the ASTTBC Foundation and those involved in the evaluation process.
