Overview
The Carrington-Philbert Scholarship will provide a one-time award of $2,500 to an incoming freshman at a U.S. college or university.
Eligibility
- Applicants should identify as Black / African American.
- Candidates must be planning to enroll as an entering freshman at a U.S. two-year (community college) or four-year college or university.
Application requirements
- Complete the application and submit the following materials:
- Official or most recent transcript
- A photo
- A letter of recommendation (required)
- An essay addressing: “What has been your driving force in your pursuit with education?”
- If you are unable to upload the transcript or recommendation through the application portal, email those documents to [email protected] and include your full name in the subject line.
Deadlines and award disbursement
- Applications must be received by May 1 of the current year. Late submissions will not be accepted.
- Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the recipient’s institution during the month of September.
After selection
- Winners must provide proof of enrollment to receive payment.
- Award recipients will be notified and their names posted on our website.
