Overview
The NSCA Foundation provides substantial scholarship funding to individuals across the strength and conditioning community, supporting learners from high school through senior investigators. Each year the foundation awards hundreds of thousands of dollars to outstanding candidates pursuing careers in this field. Funding targets those committed to advancing strength and conditioning education, research, and practice. All awards are administered through the Foundation's application and review processes.

Important Dates
Applications open annually on August 1 at 12:00 AM Mountain Time and close in mid-October at 11:59 AM Mountain Time. There is a single application cycle each year and no early access to begin an application. Late submissions and paper materials are not accepted under any circumstances. Applicants are responsible for completing and submitting all materials via the application portal before the deadline.

Qualifications
Applicants must be degree-seeking students at the associate, undergraduate, or graduate (master's or doctoral) level and pursuing a field related to strength and conditioning. Applications must be fully completed by the published deadline; late or incomplete applications will not be considered. Specific documentation is required as part of the application, and certain roles and relationships disqualify candidates from eligibility. Applicants must also hold NSCA membership or be an NSCA international affiliate member at both submission and award time.
Eligibility: Applicants must be degree-seeking, submit a complete application by the deadline, provide required recommendations and documentation, be pursuing a strength and conditioning–related degree, and meet NSCA membership and conflict-of-interest requirements.
- Open to associate, undergraduate, and graduate degree-seeking students.

Eligible Degrees
Scholarships are intended for applicants pursuing degrees and careers in the strength and conditioning field. The Foundation recognizes a broad range of majors related to human performance, rehabilitation, sports science, and related disciplines. The list of preferred majors is illustrative rather than exhaustive, and applicants should demonstrate how their program aligns with strength and conditioning goals. Membership in the NSCA is a requirement for scholarship applicants.

Scholarship Application Review Process
Applications close in October and then proceed through a staged review process managed by the Scholarship Committee. Applications are assigned by the Scholarship Committee Chair to committee members for initial review, followed by a more detailed evaluation by committee members and a final review by the chair. The overall review cycle typically spans several weeks, and applicants will be notified of award decisions after the review is complete. Timelines are approximate and may vary slightly year to year.

Scholarship Scoring Criteria
The Scholarship Committee evaluates applications using a range of academic, professional, and personal criteria to identify candidates who best align with the Foundation's mission. Reviewers consider academic records, coursework, and overall academic achievement alongside relevant strength and conditioning experience and NSCA involvement. Essays are assessed for clarity, goals, and communication quality, and recommendations are captured via a rubric submitted electronically rather than traditional letters. Community involvement, honors, and other accomplishments are also weighed in the scoring process.
