Each year, The Arc New York grants scholarships and honors to individuals pursuing studies in special education, physical or occupational therapy, or other areas connected to intellectual and developmental disabilities—along with those who demonstrate exceptional dedication to advancing this field.
Scholarship specifics
- Award amount: $3,000 per recipient, granted annually to full-time Chapter employees who are continuing their education with the intent to contribute to services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Disbursement: The award is paid in two equal installments of $1,500, one installment per semester.
- Claim period: Funds must be used within four years from the date the scholarship is granted.
- Number of awards: Four scholarships are awarded each year.
Eligibility
- Enrolled in a New York State degree program that leads to special education certification.
- Resident of New York State.
- Applicants who are already receiving a scholarship from The Arc New York are not eligible to receive another concurrent award.
