Continuing Christian Education Scholarships
Scholarship Sponsored by Episcopal Church In Mississippi
Overview
- Applications for all scholarships are due March 1 each year.
- Awards are decided annually by the Scholarship Committee, made up of the Bishop of the Diocese of Mississippi, the Dean and Wardens of St. Andrew’s Cathedral, and members of the Executive Committee and Trustees of the Diocese.
Misticos Scholarships
- Four annual scholarships are funded in memory of members of the Misticos family by the late Alexander Misticos.
- Awards go toward college expenses for students of either the Greek Orthodox or Episcopal faiths: one scholarship for a female student and three scholarships for male students.
Warren Scholarships
- Established by the late Robert Warren of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Cathedral.
- Criteria mirror those of the Misticos awards, but preference is given to young women.
- Recipients are selected based on demonstrated financial need and distinction in academic performance, leadership, extracurricular involvement, and leadership within their church.
Capers Scholarship
- The Charlotte Capers Scholarship supports Mississippi students of the Episcopal Church who are pursuing a liberal arts college education.
- These annual awards favor applicants with demonstrated financial need.
Okolona Scholarships
- Created by the Trustees of the Okolona College Endowment, these annual scholarships are available to Black college students (male or female) from Mississippi.
- Selection is based on financial need, academic record, and leadership potential; Episcopalians are preferred, though candidates from any church may apply.
Adams Episcopal Scholarship Endowment
- Awarded each year to an undergraduate who is an active member of an Episcopal congregation in the Diocese of Mississippi and who will attend either the engineering college or the business college at Mississippi State University.
- Applicants must have satisfactorily completed a high school college-preparatory curriculum (or its equivalent).
- While enrolled in high school the student must have participated in an organized, school-sponsored sports program and/or an organized, school-sponsored music program.
- The qualifying high school may be a public school in Mississippi or a private college-preparatory school located in or outside Mississippi.
How selections are made
- The Scholarship Committee reviews applications and makes the annual selections for all of the scholarships listed above.
