Description: The CollegeCounts Scholarship provides targeted financial assistance to Alabama high school students who demonstrate financial need and plan to enroll at an eligible Alabama college or university beginning in fall 2026. The program is intended to reduce the cost barrier for first-time college students and high school seniors transitioning to higher education. Awards are disbursed on a semester basis during the recipient’s first academic year and are one-time, non-renewable grants. Eligibility
Eligibility: Applicants must be U.S. citizens and Alabama residents who are either high school seniors or first-time college freshmen beginning study in fall 2026. Applicants must plan to enroll at an eligible Alabama educational institution and must demonstrate financial need. Academic standards include a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75; applicants attending four-year institutions must have an ACT score of 29 or below, while applicants planning to attend two-year institutions are not required to submit ACT scores. All listed criteria must be met to qualify for consideration.

Award Value
Award Value: Award amounts are fixed based on the type of institution: $4,000 for students enrolling at four-year colleges and $2,000 for students enrolling at two-year colleges. The scholarship is awarded one time and is non-renewable; disbursement occurs on a semester basis during the recipient’s first academic year. Funding is intended to supplement other financial aid and reduce out-of-pocket college costs. Exact award distribution will follow the administering institution’s procedures.
