Overview
The Illinois CPA Society scholarships — supported by the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois — help accounting students and CPA candidates who show strong academic achievement, leadership potential, and financial need. Each year the Fund distributes roughly $250,000 in scholarships and outreach support, reaching over 275 of the state’s most diverse and deserving accounting students.
Freshman Scholarship (Incoming College Students)
Incoming college freshmen who plan to pursue an accounting major may apply for scholarships of up to $2,000.
Freshman eligibility
- High school senior who will attend college in Illinois
- Member of a racial or ethnic group underrepresented in the accounting profession (for example, African American, Hispanic/Latino, etc.)
- Intends to major in accounting (having completed a high school accounting course is preferred)
- High school GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
Accounting Scholarship Program (Undergraduate Seniors / Graduate Students)
A range of academic scholarships from $1,000 to $4,000 are available to help reduce the cost of pursuing an accounting degree. Applicants submit a single application to be considered for any scholarships for which they qualify.
Program eligibility
- U.S. citizen or permanent resident
- Enrolled at a college or university in Illinois
- Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
- Intend to sit for the CPA exam in Illinois within three years of the application date
Named scholarships (examples and target recipients)
- Illinois CPA Society Accounting Scholarships — available to seniors or graduate students
- Herman J. Neal Accounting Scholarships — for Black/African American juniors, seniors, or graduate students
- James A. Sikich Visionary Scholarships — for seniors or graduate students
- Women’s Executive Committee Advancing Women in Accounting Scholarships — for female seniors or graduate students
