David L. Holliman African-American Community Service Award

Mount Evans Lodge #7 members have instituted a scholarship award, named after our late esteemed member, Most Worshipful Past Grand Master David L. Holliman (MWPGM Holliman), with a minimum value of $500.00.
PGM Holliman was a trailblazer in the realms of entrepreneurship and business, making significant contributions to the history of Colorado and the United States. We aim to honor MWPGM Holliman's impactful legacy on Free Masonry and society at large.
The recipient of this scholarship should exhibit the capacity to set and achieve objectives, as demonstrated by exceptional academic performance, community service, and/or work-related activities. Special consideration will be given to those who have made contributions to health & welfare, environmental issues, or business/entrepreneurial initiatives.
The application period for the scholarship commences on November 1 of each year and concludes on December 31 of the same year.
The scholarship funds will be transferred to the awardee's chosen college by July 31.
Eligibility Criteria for Applicants
- The applicant should be of African-American heritage and enrolled in an accredited associate or baccalaureate degree-granting institution.
- The applicant should be a U.S. Citizen and a resident of Colorado State.
- The applicant should be a high school senior set to attend an accredited associate or baccalaureate degree-granting institution in the Fall of their graduating year.
- The applicant should be between the ages of 17 and 21.
- The applicant should have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
Required Documents
- A fully filled David L. Holliman Scholarship Application.
- A current official academic transcript with a minimum GPA of 2.5. This should be sent directly from your registrar/counselor to our mailing address, or included in your application packet in a sealed envelope. Note: Unofficial or student copies will be accepted only if your school is on Fall break and/or closed. You will be required to submit the official document for further evaluation once it becomes available.
- A personal resume or summary of qualifications, highlighting community service.
- A recent personal photograph for journal publication.
- Two recommendation letters: one from a community member and one from a member of the educational staff.
- An essay on how the legacy of Past Grand Master David L. Holliman and the fraternity of Prince Hall Free Masonry will inspire you, as the scholarship recipient, to achieve success in your chosen field of study. The essay should be a maximum of 750 words, double-spaced, with one-inch margins, in 12pt font, Times Roman or similar.
