- Deadline for first-time applicants: February 17, 2026.
About the program
Generous contributions from more than 160 donors have made it possible for Connecticut Community Foundation to provide college scholarships to hundreds of students each year. We are one of the largest scholarship providers serving the Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills area, and we encourage eligible students to apply.
How to apply
The Foundation manages scholarship applications and reporting through the SmarterSelect online platform.
General college scholarships (most awards)
The majority of the Foundation’s scholarships use a single general application. Typical eligibility requirements for these awards include:
- Residency in the Foundation’s 21-town service area.
- A cumulative academic average of B- or higher.
- Plans to enroll in an accredited U.S. college or university for undergraduate study (applicants may be new, returning, or current college students).
- For new applicants to the Foundation’s general scholarships: a FAFSA Student Aid Index (SAI) below $40,000.

Helpful actions and deadlines
- Review the full list of general scholarships and their specific criteria. A downloadable form is available to use as a worksheet to check your eligibility before submitting an application.
- Renewing recipients: If you previously received a general scholarship from the Foundation, you must reapply by January 30, 2026 (this is the newly extended renewal deadline).
- First-time applicants: If you have never received a general scholarship from the Foundation, submit your application by February 17, 2026.
